Hi guys, took this image last summer during my trip to French Polynesia. I was in Rangiroa, one of the main islands of the Archipelago and the shooting location was about 30 minutes navigation to the other side of the mainland, the place is called Reef Island.
GEAR AND TECHNIQUES
The location is pretty wild and rough, windy and inhabited. The little tree was standing on the rocky shore. The contrast between the land and sky was beautiful.
The shot is one of many handheld shots I took at different heights. My gear consisted of my trustfully Nikon D810 (for a review click here) equipped with Nikkor 14-24mm (for a review of this great lens click here).
The use of the wide-angle lens created the converging effect of the clouds.
The composition is based on the little green tree as central part of the image.
POST PRODUCTION TWEAKS
Few little changes to the images were needed, in particular:
1) increased the contrast in the sky using a gradient filter in Camera Raw
2) +10 on the temperature command
3) High Pass Filter at 3.5
Just started a new YouTube Channel where I will regularly post photoshop tutorials. It would be good if you could pass by and subscribe to support this new initiative.
also, follow me on 500px where I continuously post new images
New Video Tutorial covering the basics pf post production. In this episode a beautiful seascape from the amazing Island of Bora Bora
Just published my first photoshop tutorial “From Flat to Fabulous in Photoshop”, it is a first time ever, as such it covers, at a very high level, topics such as background substitution. The key thing here is to merge two different images making sure the outcome is as natural as possible. In order to get there, techniques such as channel selection, color balance are all covered.
There is more coming, so stay tuned!
just wanted to share with you all the news off being awarded 3rd place to the Fusion Art - 3rd Annual Landscape Art Exhibition.
It goes without saying how delighted I am for reaching this achievement.
The awarded picture was taken last summer in the Antelope Canyon In Arizona. It was a hectic day at the canyon; I remember I had to wait quite a bit to get a clear scene in front of me. Luckily enough the double sunbeams appeared.
